It wasn’t my job to question the wisher’s desires. It was my duty to keep the wishes safe until the spirits’ couriers came to carry the wishes out into the world—in the hopes that they come true.
But some wishes have the power to stop my heart.
It’s my honor to share with you a short story that I wrote over a decade ago now.
This story is an oddity within my repertoire, simply because no one dies in it. But it was still a story that took me to places that I never thought I would go. And every time I read it… Gah… Without fail, the waterworks blur my vision.
It wasn’t my job to question the wisher’s desires. It was my duty to keep the wishes safe until the spirits’ couriers came to carry the wishes out into the world—in the hopes that they come true.
But some wishes have the power to stop my heart.
This short story is available only in digital format.
